Battleship Texas Campout

The special camp out for the 2010-2011 Scouting Year for Pack 409 will be a sleepover on board the The Battleship Texas, a military ship that has been permanently docked near the San Jacinto Monument.


Departure and Arrival and Staying with the Pack

The check-in at the battleship is 6pm, and dinner is NOT provided Saturday Night. Camp out ends the next day (Sunday) after activities.  The boats sleeping quarters are air conditioned, but the rest of the boat is not.    The sleepover (camp out) will be April 2nd (Saturday), and starts at 6pm.
  • If anyone wants to follow along to get to the destination from the First United Methodist Church, please meet at the Church at 1:00pm on SATURDAY, April 2nd.
  • If you just want to meet us at the Battleship, please be in the parking lot no later than 5:30pm on SATURDAY, April 2nd.

RULES and EXPECTATIONS

  • Arrive in park by 5:45 PM, if possible
  • Program starts at 6:00 PM sharp and ends around 10:00 AM the next morning
  • Enjoy evening meal (Saturday NIght) before you arrive, or your group may eat on grounds earlier, 5:00 PM
  • We provide one meal: Breakfast (Sunday AM)
  • Bring snack/drink for group to enjoy during video @ 9pm (in ice chest on wheels, no popcorn/raisins)
  • Bring sleeping bag/pillow or other.
  • Bring 1 or 2 flashlights per group, mosquito spray (seasonal)
  • Bring group flag (taken from pole) will raise to fly on ship
  • Dress accordingly, listen to weather report
  • Wear protective shoes, (no flip flops or sandals)
  • Night watch will be discussed once you arrive.  A “night watch” is required by adults.
  • NO RUNNING ON SHIP

WHEN PACKING UP YOUR GEAR IN THE MORNING: PLEASE ANNOUNCE to everyone to look around bunk area, etc, and look for items not picked up: clothing, sunglasses, books, cell phones, gadgets of any kind, flag, etc.  (Items get left behind frequently).
